For my 59th birthday, I gifted myself with an African Ancestry DNA test. I’m sure you are familiar with Ancestry.com. Some of you may have even taken that test. It will tell you what regional area your DNA surfaced, and that you’re a % of this and a % of that, leading one to believe that they are a mixture of ethnicities. We are indeed a mixture. However, we weren’t always mixtures. We became such when our ancestors, from the Western shores of Africa, were stolen from their homelands and enslaved hundreds of years ago.

The truth of the matter is your unmixed paternal and maternal bloodline started in the cradle of civilization…Africa. The continent of Africa is made up of 54 sovereign countries. Thankfully, a group of Black scientists got together over 20 years ago. They created the largest and only database of African DNA (blood) in the world! When you take African Ancestry’s DNA test, unlike Ancestry’s test, it will be able to tell you not only what country your paternal or maternal bloodline originated in…it will tell you your tribe.

I took the maternal DNA test. Included in this first blog post, which by the way will be posted on the 1st Saturday of every month, are videos of me discovering the results from that test. It is where my Soul’s Journey Home began. It was intended to be a book at first, but the Ancestors had something else in mind. I know this body of work will feed your Soul and expand your consciousness. I am overjoyed to share my experience with you in this way, sharing videos and pictures while telling my story makes it more personal for me.
